About Radon
Radon is a colorless, odorless, tasteless radioactive gas that is found in homes all over the United States. It comes from the natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock and water and gets into the air you breathe. Radon typically moves up through the ground to the air above and into your home through cracks and other holes in the foundation. Radon has been documented to be the second-leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. Because of its geology, North Alabama has been documented by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as having a high concentration of radon. See: http://www.epa.gov/radon/zonemap/alabama.htm Any home can have a radon problem, regardless of age or type of foundation.
The Rocketman has teamed with Radon Finders of Huntsville, AL to provide radon testing for Rocketman clients. Radon Finders' certified technicians use EPA-approved electronic radon gas detection equipment to perform the testing. Radon measurements are taken directly from the test equipment. This means you receive the test results quickly. Radon Finders doesn't send test materials to out-of-state laboratories, to avoid the situation of a mix-up in the lab, or test samples/test results getting lost in transit.
To protect you and your family, the Rocketman recommends that you have your home tested for radon. The cost of this testing is $140.00.
